THE BUG KNIGHT
The Bug Knight originated from a biopremedical illustration course I was enrolled in at Iowa State University. We were asked to create a detailed drawing of an insect, making sure to study our insect's anatomy, and be able to illustrate it in fine detail.
I of course, immediately asked if I could put a warrior on my bug, fully equipped with a magic staff and bug saddle. My professor knew of my body of work, and decided to let me give it a shot. drawing below v
This character really stuck with me as a personal favorite, which led me to bring this character to the 3D space in an independent study departmental internship during my final semester at Iowa State.
A HERO'S JOURNEY
The Bug Knight really stuck with me outside of the main projects he was a part of. Outside of the original illustration and 3D short film, I illustrated the character in digital media, and developed some lore to go along with it.
In my digital illustrations, the Bug Knight uses a one time spell to be sent to the far future in order to escape a herd of goblins. I thought the contrast of an ancient fantasy hero being transported to a power hungry, tech driven world would make for an interesting concept, especially given the weight and consequence of his spell.
I will most definitely return to this character in the future.

BANANAS ARE DEADLY! KINDA..
Upon doing some research online, I learned that bananas actually contain a small amount of radiation. This sent me down a spiral learning way more about bananas than I needed to.
I would then discover that the amount of radiation is so small, that it would be impossible to eat enough to suffer the effects.
This topic was fascinating, and a little funny as well, so when my 3D modeling professor asked us to make a short scientific 3D film for our final project, this idea instantly came to the forefront.
I wanted to make this video informational, but lighthearted at the same time, as it's a perfect mix of how this fun fact makes me feel. I themed this video to feel like a party, or club, paired with some upbeat music to bring this short film to life.
Special thanks to my Dad for recording the voiceover for this project!
